The knowledge is not inherently inarticulable. The knowledge is inarticulable IN THE CHANNEL BEING USED (language). Other channels — haptic feedback, sensor data, video with expert commentary, guided practice with real-time comparison — may carry the dimensions that language drops.
This is the same channel-format problem as Door 69 (doctor-patient communication) and Door 58 (neurodivergent communication). The knowledge exists. The channel used for transmission (verbal instruction, written recipe) drops the dimensions that constitute the expertise. The solution is not “accept the loss.” The solution is: find the channel that carries the dimensions the current channel drops.

If you are an expert approaching retirement: your knowledge is more valuable than you think, and more transmissible than you’ve been told. The “you just have to learn by doing” is true AND incomplete. The “doing” can be augmented: recorded, instrumented, narrated, and preserved in formats that carry more than words alone. Find someone who wants to learn. Let them watch you work. Let them ask not “what are you doing?” but “what are you NOTICING?” The noticing is the knowledge.
